You can buy a Windows 11 key later this year for “clean installs” (or use a Windows 10 one when a Windows 11 ISO is released), but MacOS Monterey isn’t something you can just buy and install on any old MacBook. Of course, Apple will ship new Macs with the latest OS later this year. It’s also a free update, as long as you have a valid Windows 10 license. That basically covers any new PC purchased in the last three years. It will also work on a Windows 1o on ARM PC with a newer Qualcomm processor. Windows 11 only works on PCs that have a TPM 2.0 chip and an Intel 8th-generation or AMD Ryzen 2000 processor and newer. So be sure to check that list.Īs for Windows 11, the situation is quite complicated. It covers a lot of Mac Minis, MacBook Pros, iMacs, and MacBook Airs from the last six years. Apple has an official list of Macs that work with the newest version of MacOS. MacOS Monterey will install on your device for free as long as your Mac is certified for it. MacOS Monterey will be coming in fall 2021, and Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 11 will be coming “holiday 2021.” Both are free updates on existing hardware, but there is still a list of conditions that need to be met if you hope to run the operating systems. Price and release date Arif Bacchus/Digital Trendsįirst, we start with the price and release date of these two operating systems. Windows 10: finally time to upgrade?Ĭommon macOS Ventura problems and how to fix them I am by no means promoting Adobe, I had to switch to Photoshop Elements because my Photoshop 6 version will not run on anything higher macOS 10.14 Mojave and I will not buckle to Adobe's blackmail to pay a monthly fee to run their software (as a hobby).Windows 11 to borrow one of the Mac’s biggest conveniences Please let me know if anyone has the same experience. I then proceeded to do some photo editing and printing to test the software and have consequently been running Photoshop Elements 2021 on Monterey ever since. The first time I booted my Mac from the external SSD harddrive to run the Monterey OS, Elements 2021 immediately opened without my prompting and welcomed me to the introductory tour. After hearing about problems with Elements 2021 running in Monterey, I did not update my Computer (Mac Mini M1) to Monterey until this February when I mounted Monterey on an external Harddrive (500 GB SSD) and therefore can run both Operating Systems. I am using Photoshop Elements 2021 on the BigSur Platform and have no problems. I am confused, questions are wether Photoshop Elements 2021 is working in Monterey and answers are given referring to Elements 2022! I get all sorts of bells and whistles with it. I pay $10.84 a month for the cheapest plan for Photoshop. Many didn't bother downloading a trial version to see if it would work- they just bought it. A big problem has been Apple killing off 32 bit software, and users of Photoshop Elements not reading the OS requirements before they made their purchase- yet they still want to blame Adobe after making a purchase that wasn't even stated to work on their OS (Monterey). Seems reasonable to me to only provide software updates, fuctionality updates, for 1 year from the time of purchase. Now- you just download whatever b rowser you want for free. It's like when Netscape nasvigator came out- 6 floppies and $60. From a business standpoint, it doesn't seem to make any sense to provide software on hard media (such as a DVD) any more. I don't think they "want everyone to go subscription"- everyone will, even with Photoshop Elements (which I predict will go subscription based in two years).
